Stanley P. Buttonow of Southampton, died September 4th at his home, at the age of 94. Stanley was born on July 15th, 1924 in Southampton and remained a lifelong resident. He married Mildred T. Bafundo in 1959 and together they built one of the first homes on Rosko Drive in Southampton Village in 1963.
He worked as a land surveyor for Squires and Holden for many years and was a dedicated member of the Southampton Fire Department for 50 years, he was a member of the Hook & Ladder Co. as well as the Heavy Rescue Squad.
Stanley was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Southampton Golf Club and as a young man he caddied at National Golf Links, which got him interested in golf. Stanley and Mildred enjoyed golfing together locally and travelled to many golf courses around the country.
Stanley also enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He had a woodworking shop at his home, where he enjoyed making many pieces of furniture and cabinetry.
Stanley was predeceased by his wife, Mildred; a sister Agatha Janik; and a sister Dolores Buttonow. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Steve Greenlaw; two grandchildren, Danielle Hammond and Matthew Hammond; a sister Cornelia Buttonow; a niece Marie Jackson and a nephew Ken Janik.
Funeral services were held on September 8th at Our Lady of Poland RC Church in Southampton, followed by a burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, also in Southampton.
