Eugene T. Raffel


Eugene T. Raffel, of Southampton, passed away peacefully on April 1st surrounded by his family at Stony Brook University Hospital.  He was 76 years old. 


"Gene", as he was known by many, was born and raised in Southampton by his predeceased parents Joseph and Jennie Raffel.  He graduated from Southampton High School, where he was a member of the Football and Golf teams.  He married Camille on April 24th, 1957. They lived in Southampton where they raised 5 children. He was a lifelong cabinet maker, and he owned and operated E.T. Raffel Cabinets in Southampton for over 35 years where he developed a clientele that appreciated his fine craftsmanship and reliability.  He was an active member of the North Sea Volunteer Fire Department for 41 years.  He was also an ex-captain of the Fire Police.  He enjoyed his time as a member of the Southampton Golf Club.  He also was a member of Barefoot Bay Golf Club in Florida.


He is survived by his wife Camille, and his children, Terri Raffel, Debbie Acquino and husband Chris, Jeanette Grecco and husband Frank, Gene Raffel and wife Laverne, and Richard Raffel and wife Stephanie along with 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his Brother Joseph Raffel II, and three sisters; Bertha Stachecki, Dorothy Stachecki, and Patricia Sherry. He is predeceased by his brother Theodore Raffel, and his sister Pamela Carabine.
