MICHAEL WARCHOLA AGE 94 SOUTHAMPTON NY
Born November 16 1918 in Johnstown PA. Spent 10 years at sea before and during entire WW II. Started out passing coal on the Great Lakes and by wars end was a 1st Assistant Engineer. Mike sailed the Seven Seas and saw so much, from shrunken heads on the Amazon River to the scuttling of the German Battleship Graf Spee in the Rio Plata in Uruguay. Pre deceased by his wife Norah whom he met while she served in the Womans Royal English Navy (WREN) Her job was plotting convoys in Greenoch Scotland, and they met at a dance. They married in 1943 and had a short honeymoon in London. They spent part of that short stay in the Underground ducking V-1 buzz bombs. Pre deceased by son Michael, Lieutenant Ladder Company 5 FDNY Murdered on 9/11 at The WTC. Survived by son Denis, Ret. Captain FDNY. Mike had a long interesting life, could fix anything, and will be missed by his family including his 5 grandchildren.
