Arlene J. Mojeski (nee Romanowski) – passed away after a lengthy illness at her home on Sunday January 21, 2018. She was 84 years young. Arlene was born April 23, 1933 in Greenport NY to John and Helen Romanowski. She attended Laurel Grammar School until 1942 when her family moved to the family Duck Farm in East Moriches NY. She attended East Moriches Elementary School and graduated from Center Moriches High School.
Arlene began her career at Mid-Island Lumber and Supply Co. in Riverhead NY while still in High School working weekends and school holiday’s. She continued her career with the company as a bookkeeper and in 1979 she became a partner in the business until her retirement in 1994. She was well respected by those who worked for her and those with whom she did business with.
Arlene met and married John Mojeski in 1956 and moved to Southampton where they built a home in which she lived in for over 60 years.
Upon her retirement she spent several years working for the Hampton Jitney and donated her time and energy to her family and to various charitable organizations.
Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband John M. Mojeski, brother Robert Romanowski and sister-in-law Mary Kosciusko. She is survived by two sister-in laws, Janice Romanowski and Lucille Fields, two nieces Donna DeLong (John) and Carol Fields, nephews Bob Romanowski, Jr. (Joanne), Jim Romanowski (JoAnn), Tom Romanowski, John Kosciusko (Claudia) and Michael Kosciusko (Kathleen) and many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by niece Lynn Rysko and nephew Ricky Rysko. She leaves behind many beloved cousins and lifelong friends.
A celebration of Arlene’s life was held at O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home on Thursday January 25, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday January 26, 2018 at Our Lady of Poland Church, Southampton N.Y. Arlene was laid to rest next to her beloved Johnnie at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Donations can be made in remembrance of Arlene to Our Lady of the Hamptons School.
