Richard ‘ Rick’ Shumway of Southampton, NY, died on February 8, 2017. He was 66.
Born in Oneonta, NY, Rick moved to the eastern end of Long Island in 1978. As the owner of Atlantic Collaborative Construction Company in Bridgehampton, NY, Rick was a prominent and respected builder of both homes and commercial buildings in the area. With Atlantic, Rick oversaw the construction of some of the most impressive modern structures on the East End. An avid outdoorsman, Rick enjoyed time spent in nature in all seasons. He is survived by his wife Diane, son Erek, daughter Meredith, grandson Logan, mother Madeline Shumway, sister Gail Valk, brother John Shumway, sister Janis Murray, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, as well as his beloved dogs, Bailey and Halo. A memorial celebration of Rick’s life for family, friends and colleagues will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 2 PM at the Southampton Inn on Hill Street in Southampton, NY.
