Theresa Genieve Babinski, age 81, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. She was born in Southampton to Julia Zebrowski Hoinski and Michael Hoinski. Theresa married Anthony Babinski Jr. of Watermill, where she joined him on his family farm on Mecox Road. Together they founded Babinski Farm stand in the early 1970’s, quickly becoming successful for its home grown vegetables, vibrant flowers and fresh baked goods. Their business can be remembered as one of the first family owned and run gourmet farm stands in the Hamptons.
Theresa’s talents were many. She was a member of the Begonia Society and earned several trophies. She loved tending to her many gardens, especially her rose bushes. She had a joy for antique collecting and was once featured in the Southampton Press with her vintage Santa Claus collection. Theresa was also known for her love of baking and cooking, most notably her chocolate chip banana bread. Her raspberry jam was once featured on Regis and Kathie Lee’s morning show.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband for 60 years, her son Michael Babinski, and two daughters, Sheila Spooner and Charlene Babinski; her grandchildren, Jesse Spooner, Carla Lillie and Maxwell Spooner; and Michelle Babinksi, Victoria Muller, and Stephen Babinksi; as well as her eight great-grandchildren.
