Albert R. Talmage, also known as Dick, died on October 5, 2016 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born on November 22, 1928 at the Southampton Hospital, Southampton, N.Y. to Albert and Hazel (nee Hildreth) Talmage. Residing in Sagaponack, he attended the little Red School House there for 8 years, and the Bridgehampton Public School. He served in the Korean War for two years. He then worked for the New York Telephone Company for thirty-five years, retiring and spending time between his homes on South Hutchinson Island, Florida and Sagaponack, New York.
He was a member of the Bridgehampton Fire Department since 1946, serving in the Mack Company, as Captain, and then Chief of the Department for years. He also served on the Board of Fire Commissioners for years and transferred to the ambulance company where he served many years. A member of the Bridgehampton Club since 1966, he enjoyed playing golf there and many courses in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria Talmage, a daughter Susan Steudte and her husband, Harald; a granddaughter, Jennifer Parendo and husband Keith of Babylon, N.Y. and grandson, Benjamin Steudte and wife Brittany of Hampton Bays, N.Y. and great-grandchildren Joseph, Charlatte and Michael Parendo.
A Bridgehampton Fire Department Service will be held on Tuesday, October 11 at O’Connell Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday October 12 at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Bridgehampton, NY and interment at Edgewood Cemetery.
