Thomas Vincent Rosko, lifelong resident of Southampton Village, died at Southampton Hospital on Sunday, February 5. He was 88.

Born on March 27, 1923, to Vincent and Martha Rosko, he had a brother Louis and a sister Alice, both of whom predeceased him. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Rosko served in the U.S. Air Force and was deployed to India.

After the war, he worked in his father's construction business and became known as a master craftsman in the community. He started his own construction company, Thomas V. Rosko and Son, from which he retired in the late 1980s.

According to survivors, he was a talented and passionate musician who played the accordion every day. As a member of the Swedish Accordion Society, Mr. Rosko traveled around the world performing with this group. His music was often enjoyed at many local events.

He was an exceptional golfer and loved hunting in the Catskills and in Maine. He also enjoyed drawing and woodcarving.

Mr. Rosko was a retired volunteer with the Southampton Hook and Ladder Fire Department, serving for 37 years. He was also a member of Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen; children, Paul and his wife Kathy of Southampton, Tom and his wife Barbara of Sag Harbor and daughter-in-law Denise of Shinnecock Hills; and five grandchildren, Kyle, Erin, Sarah, Alexis and Andrew. He was predeceased by a son, Alan.

Visitation took place at the O'Connell Funeral Home in Southampton on Wednesday, February 8; the Southampton Fire Department held firematic services following visitation. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 9, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Poland Church. A reception will follow immediately at the former Southampton Polish Hall, 230 Elm Street, Southampton.
