Dr. Russell Philip Cancellieri, son of the late Dr. Carmelo and Dorothy Cancellieri, passed away on December 8th, 2021, while surrounded by his loved ones. Dr. Cancellieri is survived by his wife, Francisca, his son Brian, daughter Megan (Callahan), and his grandchildren, Finn and Charlotte Cancellieri, and Harper, Lily, Piper and Adleigh Callahan. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Depew and was predeceased by his son Kevin. Dr. Cancellieri has been a prominent physician, practicing Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology in the Southampton community for over 35 years, and concluding his professional time with the US Army at Winn Army Hospital, at Fort Stewart, in Hinesville, GA.
While raising their children, Dr. Cancellieri enjoyed volunteering his time across many activities such as coaching youth soccer, assisting with the cub scout and boy scout programs; and many years performing with, and supporting the local community arts programs, most notably with the Danse Arts ballet company in their many productions over 25 years. Dr. Cancellieri was also an avid student of American history, and spent more than 10 years as a living historian with the NY Provincial Militia, Terry’s Company, French and Indian War re-enactment group, along with his son and daughter. Outside of his activities, he preferred to be home with his family and many dogs, enjoying a quieter pace. Over the span of his life, he cared for hundreds of people and affected the lives of countless others in the community. He will be missed and remembered by many, especially his family, who will miss him most of all.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in his memory to National Great Pyrenees Rescue in Beacon, NY.
