Reverend Paul Dahm, MDiv Obituary

Father Paul J. Dahm passed away on April 15, 2020. A private burial will be held at St. Lawrence's Cemetery in Sayville, NY. Rev. Paul J. Dahm was born on April 8, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated Chaminade High School in 1950 then attended Fordham College and graduated with a Bachelor in Economics in 1954. He then joined the US Army from 1954-1956 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany and was a member of the 298 Army Band. He made the decision to become a diocesan priest in April of 1958 and was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Rockville Centre on June 2, 1962. His assignments included St. Lawrence Martyr in Sayville, Maria Regina in Seaford, St. John the Evangelist in Center Moriches, The Nassau County Medical Center Priest, Pastor of St. John the Baptist in Wading River and was the Chaplin of Good Samaritan Hospital. He retired in June 2002 and during retirement he loved the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the 4th Degree. He was the Chaplin at the Suffolk County jail.  He was known as "Father Filinski" for all the east end parishes. He was a weekly visitor at Our Lady of the Hamptons Regional Catholic School. He was "Father Friday" at Shrine of the Island in Eastport, NY. He held monthly Mass at Maria Regina Residence for retired Sisters and lay people on the Third Thursday. Most of all he was known as the Priest with a great smile.

A Memorial Mass and Full Military Honors will be held at a later date after the pandemic is over and we can once again gather for Mass.
