Patricia LaVerne Gholson, daughter of Berkley A. Gholson and Ida Beatrice-Street Gholson, was born in Dewitt, Virginia (delivered by her grandmother Ellen Mack-Street, the local midwife) on June 28, 1942. She departed this life on May 2, 2011 at the Peconic Bay Medical Center Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Riverhead, NY.

Patricia "Tish" as we all knew her, accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age. She was baptized at the first Baptist Church of Bridgehampton, Bridgehampton, NY.

Upon graduating from Bridgehampton High School, Tish attended Brown Business School in New York City, where she earned her Associate Degree in Business Finance. After completing her studies at Brown, Tish returned home and was employed as Assistant Registrar at Southampton College. During her 37 years with the College, Tish continued her education. She earned her Bachelor of Education Degree (1974), her Master's Degree in Education and NYS Teaching Certificate (1976).

Tish began playing the piano at an early age; auditioning and securing a spot on the Arthur Mack Amateur Hour, a NYC talent show. Her love of music also included playing the organ. At the First Baptist Church of Bridgehampton, she played and directed the Senior Choir and later, the Sunbeam and Youth Choir (during the tenure of Rev. Charles Cooper, Rev. Russell K. Williams and Rev. Hanry Falson, Jr.) The youth she directed at Firsst Baptist Church of Bridgehampton still reminisce of their days with Miss Gholson and the choir. During the tenure of Rev. George Martin, Tish played for Friendship Baptist Church, Riverhead, NY. Before her illness, she played piano and organ at the Unity Baptist Church, Mattituck, NY, Rev. Marvin Dozier, Pastor. Tish was also a member of Aurora Chapter #66 O.E.S. (Southampton, NY) for many years and served as Secretary of the Chapter. During that period she chaired the committee that developed the Chapter's By-Laws.
