Obituary - Jane L. Kellis
Jane Lucille Kellis was born of Lucy and Benedict T Kemper on May 12, 1934 in Bay Shore, NY. She married Robert F. “Cobb” or “Bob” Kellis on July 7, 1956. Her beautiful smile was welcoming to all. She was a lady of deep faith, praying for and loving her family over the years. With Bob, she provided for and nurtured them in every way. She welcomed all their friends as family over the years. She used to say she had “kids in school” for over 40 years with an almost 19 year gap between her eldest and youngest children. She especially loved the many large Kellis family gatherings which take place twice a year. She loved the water and fishing and boating with Bob over the years. In her later years, she loved spending a week each July at various places along the Outer Banks in North Carolina with her family. She would relax and read 4 or 5 paperbacks and consume a few Shashas along the way! And of course, the day-trip and ferry-ride trek to have lunch at Howard’s Pub on Ocracoke Island was mandatory. She had a rough go the last 22 months of her life and entered Paradise on March 9, 2020.
She is survived by husband, Bob, children Rob (spouse Sharon), Keri Jane Medio, and Steve Kellis (spouse Jessica); seven grandchildren Elizabeth Newton (spouse Dustin), Mary Caroline, Catherine Clancy, Matt Medio, Patrick Medio, Graceann Kellis, and Charlie Kellis, and one great grandchild, Lila May Newton.
Visitation was held at the O'Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home in Southampton on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at The Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary RC Church in Southampton. A private cremation followed.
