Catherine Garland (nee Herz) of Southampton died of natural causes at her home on August 7, 2022. She was 97. Catherine was born in Elmhurst Queens on July 18, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Herz. She married Terrence Garland on June 5, 1948, and raised five children in Corona, Queens. Catherine worked for the US Postal Service before retiring to Southampton in 1989.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband of 54 years and her son Thomas (Nancy).  She is survived by her brother Joseph of New Jersey and her children Maureen of Seaford, Patricia of Wantagh, Edward (Eileen) of New Jersey and Terrence of Tennessee, 9 grandchildren (Michael, Kerry, Sean, Kristen, Meghan, John, Carolyn, Brian and Amanda) and 10 great grandchildren (Jack, Stephen, Cameron, Paxton, Hunter, Anthony, Nicholas, Miles, Claire and Luke)., 

Visitation will be held for Southampton resident Catherine Garland on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christine Burial will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Of Poland RC Church in Southampton, NY. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY.
