Alice Van Wicklen of Southampton passed away on November 20, 2013 at the Hampton Care Center. Alice was born in Brooklyn, NY in January of 1921. She moved to Uniondale and later to Hempstead where she spent most of her early years. She was a secretary for a leading Electronics firm. Upon her marriage to Lester Van Wicklen in 1953 she moved to Glen Head. Eventually they moved to Shelter Island where they opened a Bed & Breakfast called Bayberry House which they had for many years while her husband was also a builder on the Island. After Lester's passing in 1974, Alice became a companion & care giver to many.
In 2007 she moved to Bishop Ryan Village in Hampton Bays where she resided till her illness brought her into the care of The Hampton Care Center in Southampton. She is survived by her sisters May Villani and Catherine Bahr, Brother in law Dominick Villani and many nieces and nephews and friends Shirley Fox, Patricia Fox and Peggy Spong. A visitation was held at the O'Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. Interment followed at Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead.
